Ghost(s): The continued essence, soul or spirit of a person after death.
This includes animal spirits and other non-human life forms.
Soul(s)The electromagnetic energy fields that is the continued essence
of the person after death, retaining the intelligence, emotions, attitudes and personality.
This includes animal spirits and other non-human life forms.
Spirit(s): The spirits of the dead who return to the earth plane to visit family or loved ones at will.Spirits who choose to remain in this earth plane or those spirits who are anchored to this earth plane because of unfinished business, unresolved issues or because of negative emotional baggage that was not resolved in life. The IGHS does not suggest differences between ghosts and spirits. Both are simply labels to identify the electromagnetic energy configuration patterns.
Apparition(s): If a spirit is visible to the eye or captured as a full body spirit entity then we call the phenomena an apparition. The apparition may be of an orb, ectoplasmic mist or some other kind of spirit manifestation. Full body human apparition is very rare as it takes tremendous amounts of energy to appear in human form.
Poltergeist(s): If a haunting results in noises only and no visible manifestations, then the noisy ghosts are referred to as poltergeists. The term poltergeist does not suggest evil or a demonic spirit. The German word simply means loud ghosts and any reference to poltergeist as being malevolent is judgmental and condescending and should to be avoided. This term is not applied to those cases that may involved psychokinetic discharges associated with psycho-active individuals and therefore do not originate from the spirits of the dead.
Ectoplasm: The IGHS uses the term ectoplasm to represent the energy manifestation that is photographed and appears as a mist or fog on prints. The ectoplasm can be swirling or at rest in a disassociated pattern. The term has many meanings depending on the author and the period written about. The term does not refer to the actual residue left behind as suggested by Spiritualist who conducted seances. This spirit plasma appears as swirls, vapor or as contrails left behind by fast moving orbs. |
